Following the shocking and tragic demise of top politician Dharmendra Reddy in Illendula, Kadapa district, the state CM Kiran Reddy, dissolves the earlier SIT due to non progress and constitutes new SIT with sincere officer Sudha Rao as its head.

Baapu’s story is set in a Telangana village, where Chanti, a JCB operator who believes in hidden treasures, dreams of settling down by buying two JCBs with the gold idol he discovered. However, in a twist of fate, the goddess idol is stolen from him. On the other hand, Mallayya, a financially struggling cotton farmer, leads a debt-ridden life along with his father Rajayya, wife Saroja, and children. As the story unfolds, we learn what happens to the missing gold idol and why Mallayya’s family hatches a plan to kill him.
